I was part of the panel which discussed above topic at Economic Times’ Fire Safety Summit 2016.
The panel was moderated by one of the senior most experts from Fire Safety field, Mr. V. Suresh. Mr. Suresh is a Vice Chairman of National Building Code of India. Mr. M. V. Deshmukh was another stalwart on the panel. Mr. Sanjay Kale of Tata Power, Mr. Garry Singh of FSAI and Mr. Ashish Poddar of CBRE were my other colleagues.
I have been a panellist earlier too. But it was first time on a platform like Economic Times. I explained how IoT technology can bring together customers, maintenance service providers and regulators to effectively fulfil statutory requirements of Fire Safety. Mr. M. V. Deshmukh, who is credited for rolling out Fire Prevention and Life Safety Act for the first time in India, made very important point that for effective implementation of the act, awareness about Fire Safety works better than enforcement. I referred to that and explained how FireTweet can keep users upto date with the health of their Fire Safety Assets. When I was asked about the pricing of our service, I said that the service is free!!! My statement stirred up a hornet’s nest. Audience asked obvious question and I explained that we do not charge for Capex. We charge a small monthly fee as Opex.
We are encouraged by the response we got. Almost every attendee visited our stall
